MyMan · Warehouse Order Tracking with Real-Time WebSocket Updates and Live GPS Delivery Tracking
AppMatic Tech built MyMan from scratch for an Israel-based logistics company: a warehouse order tracking and delivery management app with real-time WebSocket order updates, live GPS delivery tracking on a map interface, and a web admin panel, built as native iOS and Android on a Laravel and PostgreSQL backend.

Project Overview
AppMatic Tech built MyMan from scratch for an Israel-based logistics company. MyMan is a warehouse order tracking and delivery management application that connects store-level inventory operations with last-mile delivery personnel. The platform covers order creation from warehouse inventory, real-time order status tracking via WebSocket connections, live GPS location tracking of delivery routes on a map interface, and a web-based admin panel for store operations management. AppMatic Tech delivered native iOS and Android applications, a Laravel backend with a WebSocket server, a PostgreSQL database, and the admin panel as a single fixed-scope engagement.

The Problem AppMatic Tech Solved
Warehouse-to-delivery operations that rely on phone calls and messaging apps for order assignment and delivery tracking create three problems that compound as order volume grows. First, order assignment is manual and error-prone: two delivery personnel can accept the same order because neither sees the other's acceptance in real time. Second, store users have no visibility into delivery status after an order leaves the warehouse without calling the delivery person directly. Third, operations managers have no aggregated view of all active deliveries, which means they cannot identify bottlenecks, reassign stuck orders, or verify delivery completion without checking each order individually.
AppMatic Tech built MyMan to replace this manual coordination with a system where every order state change is broadcast to all connected users in real time, every delivery is trackable on a live map, and every assignment is atomic, meaning the system prevents two people from accepting the same order simultaneously.

What AppMatic Tech Built
AppMatic Tech delivered the full MyMan platform from scratch: native iOS and Android applications, a Laravel backend with a WebSocket server, a PostgreSQL database, and a web admin panel with a live delivery map. Every component below was engineered for real-time order coordination across warehouse, delivery, and operations roles.
- Real-Time Order State Machine
- AppMatic Tech built an order lifecycle system with five states: Available, Assigned, In Transit, Delivered, and Returned. Every state transition is broadcast via WebSocket to all connected clients within seconds. When a delivery person accepts an Available order, the server locks the order, confirms the transition to Assigned, and broadcasts the new state to every connected device before releasing the lock. This atomic state transition prevents the double-assignment problem where two delivery personnel accept the same order because they both saw it as Available simultaneously.
- Live GPS Delivery Tracking
- Delivery personnel transmit GPS coordinates at configurable intervals while on an active delivery. The coordinates are pushed to the backend and broadcast via WebSocket to the admin panel and the store user's tracking view, which renders the delivery person's position on a map relative to the delivery destination. AppMatic Tech implemented battery-optimized location reporting that adjusts transmission frequency based on proximity to the destination: higher frequency during the final approach, lower frequency during long-distance transit. This optimization extends battery life during full-day delivery shifts without sacrificing tracking accuracy when it matters most.
- Offline-Resilient Mobile App
- Delivery routes pass through areas with intermittent cellular connectivity. The MyMan mobile app queues order state transitions locally when offline and syncs them when connectivity returns. The WebSocket reconnection logic resyncs the local state with the server state on reconnection, resolving any conflicts that occurred during the offline period. A delivery person who marks an order as Delivered while in a cellular dead zone sees the transition confirmed and synced as soon as connectivity returns, without needing to repeat the action.
- Admin Panel with Live Operations Dashboard
- The web-based admin panel provides store managers and operations supervisors with a live view of all active deliveries. A map view shows all delivery personnel and their current assignments updating in real time. The admin panel supports bulk order assignment, priority flagging, status overrides for exceptional cases, and delivery personnel management including activation, deactivation, and performance history. Inventory visibility links current stock levels to the order creation flow so orders cannot be created for items that are out of stock.
Technical Architecture
AppMatic Tech built MyMan's backend in Laravel with PostgreSQL as the primary database. The WebSocket server runs alongside the Laravel application and handles persistent connections from all active mobile and admin clients. State transitions follow a lock-confirm-broadcast pattern: the server acquires a row-level lock on the order record, validates the state transition against the allowed transition graph, commits the new state to the database, and broadcasts the change to all subscribed WebSocket channels before releasing the lock. This pattern ensures that concurrent state transition requests are serialized correctly and that all connected clients receive a consistent view of the order state.
The mobile applications were built as native iOS (Swift) and native Android (Kotlin) rather than cross-platform, because the real-time WebSocket connection management and background GPS location reporting required platform-specific lifecycle handling that native development provides with more control than cross-platform frameworks. The GPS location pipeline uses each platform's native location services with foreground service (Android) and background location mode (iOS) to maintain location reporting during active deliveries even when the app is not in the foreground.

AppMatic Tech delivered MyMan as a complete system: native iOS and Android applications for store users and delivery personnel, a Laravel backend with WebSocket server for real-time order state synchronization, a PostgreSQL database, and a web admin panel with live delivery map. The double-assignment problem that existed under manual dispatch was eliminated by the atomic state transition system. Store users gained real-time visibility into delivery status without calling delivery personnel. Operations managers gained a live dashboard showing all active deliveries with map positions updating in real time.

"Before MyMan, our store managers called delivery people to ask where they were. Our delivery people called the warehouse to ask which orders were available. Two people sometimes showed up for the same order. AppMatic Tech built us a system where everyone sees the same thing at the same time. Orders move from available to assigned to delivered, and every screen updates instantly. The live map in the admin panel is what our operations team watches all day now."

How AppMatic Tech Built MyMan
- Discovery and Order Lifecycle Design
AppMatic Tech mapped the warehouse-to-delivery workflow with the MyMan team, defined the five order states and the allowed transition graph between them, and specified the WebSocket channel model and GPS reporting requirements before any development began.
Step 1
- Laravel Backend and WebSocket Server
AppMatic Tech built the Laravel backend with PostgreSQL and the WebSocket server implementing the lock-confirm-broadcast pattern for atomic state transitions, so concurrent order acceptance requests are serialized correctly and every client receives a consistent view of order state.
Step 2
- Native iOS and Android Apps
AppMatic Tech built native Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) applications with persistent WebSocket connection management, battery-optimized background GPS reporting, and an offline-resilient local state queue that resyncs with the server on reconnection.
Step 3
- Admin Panel, QA, and Launch
AppMatic Tech built the web admin panel with the live delivery map and bulk operations, ran structured QA across connectivity-drop and concurrent-assignment edge cases, deployed to AWS, and submitted the apps to the App Store and Google Play.
