Natta: Football Fan Video Reaction Platform with Reels-Quality Playback, Full Stack from Scratch in Three Months
AppMatic Tech built the complete Natta football fan reaction platform from scratch in three months, delivering a native iOS app in Swift, a custom video streaming and pre-caching layer with Instagram Reels-quality playback, a Laravel backend, and a full super admin panel. Natta lets football fans post match reaction videos and reply in video threads, with zero-buffer playback throughout.

The Challenge of Building a Video Thread Platform Where Every Reply Is a Video
Building a match-centric video reaction platform required solving the hardest problem in consumer video apps: seamless, instant playback with no loading interruptions in a feed of user-generated content. The video thread format on Natta, where each fan reply is itself a video rather than a text comment, meant the feed had to handle rapid playback transitions between clips of varying length and quality, without the stutter or loading delay that kills engagement. AppMatic Tech engineered the video delivery and pre-caching layer to match Reels-quality playback performance from the first MVP release. The full platform was built from zero in three months: iOS app, video infrastructure, Laravel backend, and super admin panel, including league match management, user moderation, and report and block workflows.
Football Fan Video Platforms, Competitive Analysis
AppMatic Tech mapped the competitive landscape during discovery to identify the structural gap between general-purpose video platforms and the match-centric, video-thread format Natta needed to own.

What AppMatic Tech Built for Natta: Full Stack in Three Months
AppMatic Tech built every layer of the Natta platform from scratch, covering the iOS app, video technology, backend, and admin panel, in three months.
- Native iOS App (Swift)
- AppMatic Tech built the Natta iOS application in Swift with match-centric video reaction posting, where users select a live or recent match and record or upload a reaction video tied to that game. The video thread feed displays fan reactions for each match in sequence, with reply video threads branching from each post. Features include match discovery and selection, video recording and upload, reaction thread navigation, follow, like and share, user profiles, and push notifications.
- Video Streaming and Pre-Caching Layer
- AppMatic Tech engineered the custom video delivery and pre-caching pipeline that powers Natta's Reels-quality playback. Videos in the feed are pre-fetched before the user scrolls to them, eliminating load time between clips. The pipeline handles video encoding, optimised delivery for mobile network conditions, and playback transitions across match reaction threads, maintaining instant start even on 4G connections in stadium and outdoor environments where fans engage during and after matches.
- Laravel REST API Backend
- AppMatic Tech engineered the Laravel backend with match data and league management, video upload and processing pipeline, user authentication and social graph (follow and block), video thread and reply data models, report and flag processing, push notification delivery via Firebase Cloud Messaging, and the API layer powering both the iOS app and the admin panel.
- Super Admin Panel
- AppMatic Tech delivered a full super admin panel covering league and match management for reaction thread context, user listing and account management, video content moderation, report and flag review workflow, and block controls, giving the Natta team full operational control over the platform from day one of launch.

Natta Brand and UI Design
AppMatic Tech delivered the complete UI/UX design for Natta alongside the iOS engineering and video infrastructure. The visual system was built around the match moment, the emotional and immediate nature of a fan reaction seconds after a goal, a red card, or a final whistle. The feed design placed the video at full screen with minimal chrome, match context clearly anchored at the top, and thread navigation accessible with a single swipe. The reaction recording UI was designed for speed: open the app, find the match, record, post, in under thirty seconds.

"AppMatic Tech built everything from zero, the app, the video tech, the backend, the admin panel, in three months. The video feed was the hardest part and they nailed it. Fans open the app and reactions just play, no loading, exactly like Reels. That was the bar we set and they hit it."

HLS Streaming Pipeline and AWS MediaConvert on Natta
Delivering Reels-quality playback on a user-generated video platform required a production-grade transcoding and delivery pipeline, not just a video player. AppMatic Tech built the Natta video infrastructure on HLS adaptive bitrate streaming, with AWS MediaConvert handling all transcoding from raw fan uploads to multi-rendition HLS output. Every video posted on Natta passes through this pipeline before it appears in any match reaction feed.
- Fan Video Upload via Multipart API
When a fan records or selects a reaction video in the iOS app, Swift uploads the raw file to the Natta Laravel backend via a chunked multipart upload endpoint. Large files are split into parts and reassembled server-side before processing, preventing upload failures on slower mobile connections.
- AWS Media
Convert Job TriggerOn upload confirmation, the Laravel backend triggers an AWS MediaConvert transcoding job, passing the raw video S3 path as input. MediaConvert handles all format normalisation, ensuring videos recorded across different iOS devices and export settings are processed into a consistent output regardless of source encoding.
- Multi-Rendition HLS Transcoding
MediaConvert transcodes each source file into four HLS renditions: 1080p, 720p, 480p, and 360p. Each rendition is packaged as segmented .ts files with a corresponding .m3u8 manifest, giving the iOS player a complete adaptive bitrate ladder to select from based on network conditions at playback time.
- AWS S3 Storage and CloudFront Delivery
Transcoded HLS segments and manifests are stored in AWS S3 and distributed via Amazon CloudFront. CloudFront edge nodes serve segments from the location closest to the device, reducing round-trip latency for segment fetches and keeping playback smooth for football fans engaging from stadium networks and outdoor locations.
- iOS Pre-Caching via AVPlayer
The Natta iOS app uses AVPlayer's native HLS support to pre-fetch the next video's segments before the fan scrolls to them. The pre-caching layer identifies the next two to three videos in the feed queue and begins downloading segments in the background, so the video is already buffered and ready to play at the instant of scroll.
- Adaptive Bitrate on 4G Stadium Networks
HLS adaptive bitrate selection runs automatically on the iOS device, switching renditions in real time based on available bandwidth. On congested 4G stadium networks, the player steps down to the 480p or 360p rendition to maintain continuous playback rather than stalling, then steps back up when bandwidth recovers, with no visible interruption to the fan.

Security Architecture on Natta
- Video Content Moderation Architecture
AppMatic Tech built the report and flag pipeline into the Laravel backend from day one, with a dedicated super admin dashboard allowing the Natta moderation team to review flagged reaction videos, remove content, and block users without requiring a backend deployment, essential for a user-generated video platform at launch.
- User Block and Safety Controls
AppMatic Tech implemented user-level block controls across the iOS app and admin panel, allowing fans to block other users from their video thread and giving the admin team the ability to action platform-level blocks on accounts that violated community standards.
- Token-Based Session Management
User authentication used token-based sessions with server-side expiry, ensuring reaction video posting, thread participation, and profile management were scoped to verified, logged-in sessions only.
- Video Upload Validation
AppMatic Tech implemented server-side validation on all video uploads, checking file type, size, and content headers before encoding and storage, preventing malformed or oversized files from entering the video processing pipeline and disrupting the playback feed.
- Social Graph Privacy Controls
AppMatic Tech implemented follow and block controls at the social graph layer, ensuring blocked users could not view, reply to, or interact with the blocking user's reaction videos anywhere in the Natta feed or thread structure.
